Greg Gutfeld broke down in tears live on Fox News

It was supposed to be a light-hearted Friday night episode of Gutfeld!, filled with witty jokes and his usual sharp takes on politics. But halfway through the show, something unexpected happened — Greg Gutfeld, the man known for his sarcasm and unshakable composure, teared up live on air.

The segment started innocently: a short tribute to a long-time viewer from Ohio, Mark Ellison, a 42-year-old father who had written to the show for years. Producers shared that Mark had recently passed away in a car accident — and in his final email to the team, he thanked Gutfeld for “making laughter feel like hope” during his battle with depression.

As the studio lights dimmed and a photo of Mark and his young daughter appeared on screen, Greg’s voice faltered.

“You do this job to make people laugh,” he said softly, pausing as his eyes glistened. “You never realize sometimes… that laughter might be saving someone’s life.”

For a moment, the usually boisterous audience fell silent. Dana Perino, his co-host from The Five, reached over and gently touched his shoulder. Greg took a deep breath, smiled through the tears, and added, “This one’s for you, buddy.”
